Video archives and broadcast metadata, beside the codec

Polygen is not a video codec. For video and satellite distribution it tokenizes the structural signals H.264 and HEVC leave alone: archival metadata derived from the codec residual, per-segment content provenance, and the metadata channels that ride beside broadcast video.
Business Impact

What changes when raw data stops moving

Index petabyte archives by structural signal, not pixels
Prove a delivered stream matches the source, per segment
Free downlink headroom in the metadata channels
Keep H.264, HEVC and existing DRM in place

4 B

Per frame for event detection
Scene-cut and event signal from the codec residual, measured on a public drone mission

125x

Telemetry beside the feed, coefficients only
COARSE mode on a 21-channel log at about 5 Hz; 5x lossless on the same log

Per segment

Content provenance
SHA-256 prediction digest plus attestation envelope

0

Changes to the video bitstream
H.264, HEVC and existing DRM stay in place
The challenge

Storage, provenance and downlink are three bills the codec cannot lower

Operators hold petabytes of archive where storage is the dominant cost, distribute premium content with DRM that encrypts but cannot prove derivation, and deliver over fixed satellite downlinks where every metadata channel competes with the video. H.264 and HEVC are already near-optimal for the pixels; the next axis of savings is everything around them.
Approach

How Datasent enables this use case

Encode

Tokenize beside the codec

Per-frame and per-region features from the codec's own residual and motion vectors are tokenized for search, indexing and event detection. The video bitstream is untouched.
Transmit

Metadata as tokens

Captions, EPG data, ad triggers and telemetry are numeric and categorical structured data. Tokenized, they take a fraction of the channel, leaving headroom for higher-fidelity video or more channels.
Reconstruct

Custodian-gated frames

The residual-only protocol could support a different distribution model: the operator retains coefficients, ships residuals, and releases coefficients only to authenticated subscribers, with every release logged. Engineering owns the call on whether that fits a given rights model.
